Blog #6 – Why is physical education the most important subject?

Physical Education is the only school subject that “promotes physical and emotional health, helps children learn better and cultivates the character that they need to be productive adults.”

Physical Education should be a core subject just like Math, English, Science and History.

Movement enhances student learning by improving alertness, motivation and creates new nerve cells to improve memory.

The brain releases endorphins which create a feel-good effect, improving anxiety and stress management.

Getting active with others creates friendships and a sense of community.

The body, mind and emotions are all improved by exercise. Physical education programs like Fit For Fun give children a healthy start in life along with the skills they need to be fit for a lifetime.
